I am an assistant professor with the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering of the University at Buffalo, The State University of New York I received a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor
for my work on Saving Fuel for Heavy-Duty Vehicles Using Connectivity and Automation.
My advisor is Prof. Gabor Orosz. Before joining UB, I worked in industry developing planning and control algorithms for autonomous trucks. With experience in both academia and industry, I study fundamental questions with significant application impact.

Research Interest

My research focuses on designing safe and efficient autonomous systems.
My lab combines rigorous model-based methods (e.g. nonlinear control, optimal control, and game-theoretic methods) with data-driven approaches to achieve safe and efficient control for robotic systems.
One major application is to achieve safe and efficient mobility with connected and automated vehicles.

I always look for highly motivated students with strong dynamics and control backgrounds with solid programming experiences.

Specifically, I am looking for candidates to conduct research along the following directions.

  • Design and Certification for Safe, Efficient and Trustworthy Algorithms for Autonomous Systems

  • Build seamless human-robot teaming
