Eudora Porter Estabrook 1885-1960

Eudora Estabrook received her bachelors degree in teaching from Yipsilanti Normal School. She applied for home front service in 1918 as is indicated in her National Defense Card (Woman’s Committee of Council of National Defense cards).

Estabrook was a teacher in Grand Rapids, Michigan, with a special interest in speech correction. She attended the founding meeting of ASHA in 1925 and became one of its 25 charter members. In 1929, Estabrook received special training in speech correction at Michigan State Normal College. Eventually she became the Director of Speech Correction and Principal of Diamond Element School in Grand Rapids Michigan. She served under the administration of Pauline Camp, who was director of speech correction in the Grand Rapids School System.
