 | Description: Black Rock Canal Lock diverts water traffic away from the powerful currents of the Niagara River, providing safe water access to Erie Canal and Lake Erie. The Black Rock Canal is a separate channel in the Niagara River. It runs 3.6 miles long from the northern end at Black Rock Lock to it's southern end where it flows together with Lake Erie.
Launching from the Erie Basin Marina, paddle downstream. You'll pass LaSalle Park, The Buffalo Yacht Club, The Westside Rowing Club and Broderick Park, on Squaw Island. Scajaquada Creek connects into the Canal just beyond Broderick Park, which can be paddled as well, though last time was strewn with garbage and pollution.
