I'm an assistant professor in the Department of Library and Information Studies (DLIS), the State University of New York at Buffalo (UB). Before joining UB in August 2006, I was a post-doctoral researcher in the Computational Linguistics & Information Processing (CLIP) Lab, the University of Maryland Institute for Advanced Computer Studies (UMIACS). I received my Ph.D. at the University of Maryland (UMD) in December 2005, under the supervision of Dr. Douglas W. Oard. My thesis focused on developing new computational models of matching meanings for cross-language information retrieval.
My research interests include the development and evaluation of information retrieval technology, techniques, and methods. Currently I focus on information retrieval under uncertainty, multilingual information access, and e-discovery.
At UB, I teach courses of computer and information technology, information systems analysis and design, database technology, as well as digital libraries.
