I have adapted these figures from African American culture representations.  They are evocative of a celebration of a people's heritage, a life filled with tradition and family history.  The cloths are hand dyed and wrapped around the body in a manner that is of the culture.  Pieces adorning the figures are talisman and ............. that ward off angry spirits, and let in to the wearer only those that are beneficial.
