The 37th Ontario-Québec Physical Organic Mini-Symposium (POMS) will be held on the North Campus of the University at Buffalo, SUNY, Buffalo, New York, from Friday November 13 - Sunday November 15, 2009.
Since its inception in 1973 POMS, has grown in breadth and reputation and now attracts participants from academic and industrial institutions in Canada and the Great Lakes/Midwest region of the US. In recent years it has seen significant expansion of its focus to include materials, biological and medical themes. POMS brings together academic and industrial scientists to present their research and exchange scholarly ideas during an intense weekend of science, with strong participation in the oral presentations by graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. The organization and location of POMS rotates annually amongst several Canadian Universities in Ontario and Québec. This year's meeting sees the second excursion of POMS outside of Canada to Buffalo, New York.
The scientific program will consist of contributed short talks all day Saturday and on Sunday morning, along with a poster session during an extended lunch break on Saturday. The traditional Welcome Mixer will be held on Friday evening at the Ramada Hotel and Conference Center. The Symposium Dinner will be held on Saturday evening at a local Middle Eastern restaurant.
We welcome the participation of researchers who apply physical organic chemistry principles in all aspects of chemical sciences, including biological and materials chemistry. As always, active participation by graduate students and postdocs is strongly encouraged.
We hope to see you in Buffalo in November!
