This unit about poetry was constructed through a collaboration on the development of a unit of study with Beth Stancl, School Library Media Specialist, and Mary Sorrels, 9th grade AP English teacher, both from Clarence Senior High School , Cathie Marriott, instructor for the course "Curriculum and the Role of the School Library Media Specialist, and students from the Department of Library & Information Studies, School of Informatics, including Jim Garrity, Russell Puschak, and myself.

The development of this unit of study included developing the essential questions to guide the learning about poetry, gathering resources to assist students in their understanding and appreciation of poetry, development of multimedia resources to enhance the delivery of poetry including documenting local poetry events, and the development of communication systems to be used for collaboration between students and local poetry experts.
