We are soliciting abstracts for poster sessions during the BGS 2005.

Please click here to open/download a PDF file with the announcement (August 15th 2005 version) to post it in your department or send it to your colleagues and friends.

Of particular interest are empirical, theoretical, and modeling investigations of geomorphic and ecological links that occur at the whole ecosystem scale. We particularly encourage submissions from a variety of disciplines including geomorphology, ecology, hydrology, soil science, engineering, biogeochemistry, and other related fields.

Possible themes of interest include:

bulletGeomorphic influences on biogeochemistry, nutrient cycling, and primary productivity
bulletEcological influences on geomorphic processes
bulletGeomorphic and ecological links across a range of trophic levels within ecosystems
bulletVariability in geomorphic and ecosystem processes at different scales
bulletCoupled modeling of geomorphic and ecosystem processes
bulletApplications of geomorphology and ecosystem ecology to environmental management and restoration.

Extended deadline for poster abstracts was July 29, 2005. However, we are able to offer space for more posters and therefore still accept abstracts. Submit us a poster abstract as soon as possible if you want to present. We encourage students to present poster (possible free registration and accommodation!).

A 400-word abstract for those interested in presenting a poster should be submitted to Martin Doyle, Department of Geography, University of North Carolina, mwdoyle@email.unc.edu.

The poster session will be offered in addition to the oral presentations and will be the focus of several sessions during the symposium. We plan to have the first poster session in the Department of Geography during the lunch break (with presenters) and afternoon break (posters remain on display) on Saturday. The second poster session will be in the Center for Tomorrow during the evening reception just before the dinner (with presenters) on Saturday and morning break on Sunday (posters remain on display). Abstracts will appear in the conference program along with those of the oral presentations.
