About Me
Hi! My name is Zolal Ayazpour. I am a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the
Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics.
My research centers on studying the chemistry and physics of the Earth’s atmosphere, with a particular focus
on satellite-based observations. I develop algorithms to retrieve trace gas column densities and estimate
emissions of short-lived air pollutants. I am also interested in applying data-driven and machine learning methods
to advance understanding of atmospheric features and air pollution.

My research history:
• Estimating satellite-based emissions of air pollutants using new generation satellite observations
• Development of algorithms to retrieve formaldehyde column density from reflected sunlight in space
• Validation of satellite retrieval product with global, ground-based sensor networks
• Development of a spatially complete planetary boundary layer height product using an observational data-driven approach
• Study of spatial and temporal variability of ozone sensitivity observed by new generation satellite instruments
