I am an Assistant Professor at University at Buffalo, the State University of New York (SUNY), which fosters diversity.  Being part of academic institutes which embraces diversity including SUNY Buffalo, I have had the opportunity to interact with a diverse group of colleagues, faculty, staff, as well as classmates who have different ethnic origin, language, religion, race, and sexual orientation. I enjoy my interaction with this diverse group of people, recognize that it has enhanced my worldliness and gaining different views, and aspects of others has made me realize more about the importance of working with diverse group of people and has prepared me to work with a diverse group of people along my career.  As a true believer in the importance of diversity in an academic environment based much on my personal experience, I would hence be able to inculcate diversity in my research lab and classroom; and by engaging myself in efforts to promote diversity, I aim to encourage my students and fellow research scholars and staffs to contribute towards enhancing diversity both within and outside their classroom and lab setting.
