Sailing the net with Charlotte Doyle

Miss Doyle was just offered a sailor's outfit of canvas pants and blouse made by Zachariah. This outfit is in stark contrast to the dresses Miss Doyle wore. Once again, Zachariah mentioned a sailors dish; this one is called Sailors Duff. Below is a recipe you can use to make and try some Sailors Duff for yourself.
Ingredients:
1 1/2 c. brown sugar
1 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. boiling hot water
2 tbsp. melted butter
1 egg
Directions:
Mix all dry ingredients, add the 1 cup of
boiling water, 1 egg (beaten), 2 tablespoons of melted butter. Mix well. Pour
into greased glass loaf pan, cover and cook 1 1/2 hours at 375 degrees
