Group members from left to right - Vineeth Vooppala, Man Fai Guo, Rob Szymkowiak, Joe LaBonte, and Quinn Colville
Editor - Quinn Colville
Quinn has been assigned as the editor of this design project. As the editor, he makes sure that all submitted documents are professionally written and all of the separate writing styles of the team are captured into a uniform format. His contributions to the design project include running finite element analysis software in ANSYS to determine stresses on the power coupling, helping to design the CAD models for the male, female, and locking collar, finding all of the necessary standard components, and helping design the format of the website. He has also worked on machining the prototype due to his background with woodworking.
Project Coordinator - Man Fai Guo
Man Fai has been assigned as the project coordinator for this design. As the project coordinator, he makes sure all of the project tasks are done punctually and that the deadlines are meet. His contributions to the design project include running finite element analysis software in ANSYS to determine stresses on the power coupling, help coming up with original coupling design, and finding necessary standard components.
Prototype Manager - Rob Szymkowiak
Rob is responsible for developing a physical prototype of the integrated design concept the group has created. With use of the engineering drawings and CAD models he will be performing the machining of raw material in order to create an accurate prototype of the power coupling. The design consists of a male and female part connected and fastened together with a locking collar to ensure alignment and the transmission of torque from one shaft to another. This prototype will serve as a representation of the full scale coupling design and allow for stress analysis and torque testing to determine whether the design is practical for actual application. The physical prototype is an integral part of developing the power coupling and will hopefully validate the design and the group's effort in creating a functional product for real life use.
Technical Manager - Joe LaBonte
Joe has been assigned the technical manager position on this team. As the technical manager, he is going to have a large part in prototype design/manufacturing. With a deep technical background, this position was a great opportunity to contribute some knowledge and shortcuts that may help the project run smoother. His contributions to the design project include rough and fine tuning design revisions based on finite element analysis results, running finite element analyses, and prototype construction.
Webmaster - Vineeth Vooppala
Vineeth is responsible for creating and maintaining the website and content on the website. As webmaster his job is to make sure content on the website is presented in a neat and appropriate manner which allows for any visitor to quickly gain an understanding of the project and evaluate its importance. His contributions to the design project include running finite element analysis to determine stresses on the power coupling, helping design the CAD models for the male, female, and locking collar.
