THE  PELISSIER  PAGE

FROM GERONIMO

Pelissier found a suitcase full of old postcards
and in three short weeks made a great many very
small paintings. "It was a very specialtime," she
says, and mentions "the compression of time,"
and that the paintings "represent an inventory of
things that I owned." The resulting quick, brushy
works, spread about here and there, have a
fragmented, snapshot quality and an early Diebenkorn air. Lush, creamy miniatures--a soldierly bottle
of wine, a rolling pin that seems to float like an elongated butterfly, a cheese grater, an electric
cord in a socket, a Panama hat, a white bowl, a blue-black bowl, a lime. Très cher, très intime.
"I move so much, I had to find a way to carry things..."
