Powerplants
The U-shaped structure of the powerplants at the base of the dam. Each powerplant wing is 650 feet long and rise 299 feet (nearly 20 stories) above the powerplant foundation. With 17 main turbines -- nine on the Arizona wing and eight on the Nevada wing they have a nameplate capacity of about 2,080 megawatts.
