The drop in the water level of Lake Mead and the resulting bathtub ring is almost 100 ft. Though Hoover Dam is well known for its power generation, its first and foremost reason for existence is water management and reclamation. Even though the west is in the midst of a major drought this photo shows Hoover Dam doing its job. There has been almost no impact on agriculture in this region the past 10 years.
