How to win at Texas Hold ‘em
If you want to win at Texas Hold ‘em you need to get a winning hand of 5 cards from the 7 cards that are available to you. You won’t be dealt all 7 cards in one go, we’ll come back to how the cards are dealt a little bit later, and there are 2 of the 7 cards that you can see which must be used to make up your final 5 card hand. There are several ways to win the game and you can easily find a lot of help to figure out all the winning combinations of the poker cards. It’s not easy to define what a winning hand makes at Texas Hold ’em, but you should know following terms: Straight, Flush, Pairs, Full House and “of a kind”. It’s also important that you’re a good winner at poker and know your poker etiquette, but more about this topic in another article.
Basic Rules of Texas Hold ‘em
And now back to dealing those cards. Usually a poker table has seats for 9 players who sit around. Everyone takes a turn as the dealer, which is shown with a button places on the table, so that everyone knows who the dealer is at the moment. The dealer deals cards to their left side, the person immediately to their left is called the small blind and the next player is the big blind, if you want to know more on ‘blinds’, check our betting section. Anyway, going left from the dealer each player receives one card face down - followed by a second round where you receive a second card. These cards are called “hole cards”, please don’t forget that you should never show these hole cards to the opponents, you will see why when you read further on. A round of betting, pre-flop, takes place then the dealer places three cards in the middle of the table face up. These cards are the “Flop”, they are community cards that all players can see and decide how useful they might be in combination with the cards on the hand. Now there is another round of betting and the dealer deals a fourth community card which is known as the “Turn”. There’s another round of betting and then the final community card is dealt by the dealer- the “River”. If you’re still in game you can make more betting and you should also figure out the best 5 card poker hand you can. So, there have been 5 community cards and your 2 hole cards dealt, now using your 2 hole cards and any 3 of the community cards you should try to make up a winning hand of 5 cards of all the available cards. By now you’ve realized why it’s very important that you don’t show your hole cards to the other gamers! If they figure out how good your cards are, they could know if they should bet against you or not, according to the community cards on display for all to see.
Texas Hold ‘em blinds
As mentioned in a different paragraph that there exist small and big blinds; these could be $1 & $2 up to thousands of dollars, depending on the game you’re in. The small and the big blind are put into the declared stake into the pot before any cards are dealt in the game. This rule makes sense, because even when all players but one are folding there will always be a certain amount in the pot for the winner. There are several betting rounds which proceed around the table from the dealer’s left side in the same order as the cards are dealt. The small blind is a disadvantage because they have to bet at first, not knowing how other players are going to react on their own cards which they can see. That’s the reason why the small kind can also be referred to as being “under the gun”.
Texas Hold ‘em Betting Rules
WAnyway let’s talk about the betting rules- as already been stated when the betting rounds occur, according to which cards are dealt, so the only other point to mention here in terms of betting and Hold ‘em rules is that the maximum number of bets per betting round is four. If you’re a rookie player you can check out freeroll promotions on online poke websites, because in that way you get to bet with the money of the poker websites. During the betting process in any rounds you can “fold”, which means that you see that you have no chance of winning with these cards and so you are withdrawing from that poker hand. If you have good cards and want to stay in the game you must “call”, “check” or “raise”. To “call” means that you’re matching the previous bet and to “check” means that you don’t want to be in this round, but you can only say “check” as long as no other person before you has made a bet. To “raise” means that you’re making the bet larger than the previous bet’s stake. If you “check” but then later in that betting round change your mind, you can “check-raise”. A “check-raise” lets you raise a bet out of your normal turn. We hope that this doesn’t confuse you.
