WSOP 2010 - People Get Ready

Introduction

In the words of one of the original cool dudes - Curtis Mayfield - “People get ready” because World Series of Poker - WSOP 2010 is just a matter of days away. Whilst we'll all be watching our favorite poker blogs and poker websites for the latest information on the top poker players and games - we all, also, secretly dream of sitting at those Las Vegas tables and rubbing shoulders with all the top pro and celebrity poker players. Even if that might literally mean rubbing shoulders with them when they’ve taken even our shirts!

You can play in the WSOP

If you’ve seen the itinerary for the WSOP 2010 you might well wonder how on earth you can participate in this fantastic festival of poker, with the lowest buy-ins for the public at $1000 and bearing in mind that nearly 6500 people starting the $10,000 buy-in Main Event last year. It’ll make your concerns as to whether or not to play a $20 buy-in online poker, compared to your normal $2 or $5 buy-ins, seem quite mundane. OK, so you think you know better than to even ask about a seat at the five day $50,000 buy-in Players Championship on May 28th; but what about playing some of the smaller events such as the $1000 buy-in No Limit Hold ‘em 4 Day event on June 6th? If you’re thinking - hold on there a moment; where do I get even that sort of buy-in from, where do I get my stakes from or how can you afford the accommodation in Las Vegas during such a prestigious week? The answer is quite straight forward - play an online tournament that has not only qualification for the WSOP in Las Vegas, but will also pay your expenses whilst there.

The great WSOP seat giveaway

By far the easiest and cheapest way to get yourself to Las Vegas for the six weeks of the WSOP 2010 is to qualify for one of the free or sponsored seats via an online satellite. Whilst pretty well any of the online poker websites will be offering such deals - here’s the low down on the ones being offered by some of the main online poker websites.

Who’s offering what to get to WSOP 2010

Full Tilt - poker game buy-ins can be anything from $1 to $1000 here as Full Tilt are offering, by qualifying satellites and direct satellites at just $1, the chance of winning one of 5 seats a week to Las Vegas. Playing their daily $216 direct shootout could land you one of the 14 seats a week available through this route; whilst on June 20th for $645 there’s a staggering 150 seats and packages on offer. By the time the Main Event comes around on July 5th, a couple of weeks beforehand Full Tilt will have satellites ranging from $1 to $1000 with 200 seats up for grabs - not to mention 50 seats being available through freerolls. 888 Poker - doesn’t quite have the range of offers that Full Tilt is giving. But, they have 47 packages for the July 1st $1000 No Limit Hold ‘em 4 day event and 41 $15,000 packages for the Main Event all waiting to be won - and all in 5 Star Las Vegas accommodation. PartyPoker - Another firm favorite in the poker websites, PartyPoker is concentrating on getting its players to the Main Event - for the ultimate WSOP experience. Although this might be aimed more at the experienced poker players, it is a great offer. You could win one of the packages through a freeroll, but if you don’t want to leave it to chance go for the Friday and Sunday $700+$50 satellites, from which 1 in 20 players will be given a $14,000 WSOP Main Even package! Bodog Poker - the recently revitalized Bodog gambling website is also concentrating on Main Even seats for its clients. Players can buy-in directly to the qualifying satellites at $470+$30 or they can earn themselves a seat via a semi-final satellite at $50+$5; you could even work your way up to a semi-final seat from a $1 poker game!
