Research Interests

Dr. Yao's research focuses on developing advanced medical imaging systems, such as single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) and positron emission tomography (PET). Both SPECT and PET are based on detection of high energy (~80 to 650 keV) photons. His recent research projects are about developing multiple imaging functionalities, for example, SPECT and CT (Computed Tomography), SPECT and PET, on a single scintillation detector system.
