Dr. Kishore's research interests are in IT governance, IT innovation, and healthcare IT. He predominantly uses quantitative research methods with primary field surveys and secondary data. His research in the area of healthcare IT was recently funded by two research grants, one from the federal Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) and the other from UB Home-BASE Center, for studying the impacts of innovative information technologies (such as telemonitoring, social media, gamification) on health outcomes in patients suffering from chronic diseases, including diabetes and HIV. His research on IT outsourcing was earlier funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) with a large, multi-year research grant. Dr. Kishore's research papers have been accepted and/or published in premier journals including Strategic Management Journal, MIS Quarterly, Journal of Management Information Systems, Information & Management, Decision Support Systems, Journal of Strategic Information Systems, and IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management. He has also presented numerous research papers and participated in panels at international and national conferences. He currently serves as an Associate Editor for Information & Management, a premier journal in the IS field. Dr. Kishore also served as the Program Co-Chair for the 52nd Annual Computers and People Research Conference sponsored by ACM SIGMIS 2014, and as an AE, track-chair, and mini-track chair at various international, national, and regional conferences including ICIS, AMCIS, AOM, and PACIS annual conferences. He also continues to speak with industry and professional groups on topics of his research interests.

Dr. Kishore currently teaches graduate courses on Management of Globally Distributed Services (GDS) and Technology Management and E-Business. He designed the GDS course some years ago based on his research in the area of global IT outsourcing. He also regularly teaches the graduate course on Analysis, Modeling, and Design in the school's MS and Executive MS programs in Bangalore, India. Earlier he taught a graduate course on Systems Analysis and Design at UB. He also teaches a PhD seminar on a rotation basis, a seminar that has broad appeal and has been taken by PhD students from other departments in the school. Dr. Kishore has also taught as an international guest faculty in Xiamen University, China, Sogang University, Korea, and the University of West Indies (UWI), Jamaica. Most of his courses have received rave reviews and high ratings from the students, placing them near 95 percentile in the UB School of Management. Before joining the academia, Dr. Kishore worked in the industry for more than 12 years in a variety of managerial, systems development, and consulting/advisory roles in the IT services and strategic consulting arenas. He has extensive experience with information systems/software development throughout the life cycle in the defense aircraft manufacturing and IT services industries. He was involved in the development and implementation of the first mainframe-based software systems for production planning and control of defense aircrafts and related systems at Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, India. He also led the project for the design and development of an enterprise-wide application systems suite for UP State Road Transport Corporation, the largest operator of a fleet of buses for passenger travel in India. Subsequently as a strategic IT management consultant, he provided high-level advisory services to senior executives and CXOs in the areas of IT strategy, business-systems alignment, IT performance improvement, and defining business system scope, specifications, and design.
