Administrative Experience
- 1998-present. Interim Director, Psychological Services Center, SUNY at Buffalo. Maintained operation of the clinic while another permanent director was recruited.
- 1984-1997. Director, Psychological Services Center, SUNY at Buffalo. Administration of the research and training clinic for the APA approved Ph.D. graduate training program in clinical psychology. Staff averaged 60+ student therapists and 20+ clinical supervisors, with an average of 3000+ client visits per year. Also responsible for coordinating all outside clinical placements for students.
- 1990-present. Founder and Director of the Anxiety Disorders Clinic, Psychological Services Center, SUNY at Buffalo. The Anxiety Disorders Clinic is a research and treatment center employing state-of-the-art psychological techniques in the treatment of panic disorders, phobias, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and generalized anxiety.
- 1994-1995. Assistant Director of Clinical Training, Psychology Department, SUNY at Buffalo. Responsible for coordinating student training activities both inside and outside of the department.
- 1990-1994. Director of Clinical Training, Psychology Department, SUNY at Buffalo. Headed the clinical area group, which includes approximately 18 faculty and approximately 75 students. Responsibilities included student recruitment and evaluation, course staffing, long-term planning within the area, faculty recruitment, program development, and interactions with upper level administration and accrediting agencies.
- 1989-1990. Acting Director of Clinical Training, Psychology Department, SUNY at Buffalo. Headed the clinical area group while the director was on sabbatical.
- 1983-1988. Executive Secretary, Professional Services Committee, Psychological Association of Western New York. Developed and implemented a marketing plan for psychological services in the Western New York region. Hired and supervised part time staff to create and maintain a database of organizations that could benefit from the availability of psychological services.
- 1982-1983. President, Psychological Association of Western New York. Headed an organization of nearly 250 psychologists.
Teaching Experience
- 1994-present. A Member of the Undergraduate Honors Faculty. State University of New York. Teach special honors sections of undergraduate courses and serve as mentors to one or more undergraduate honors students. Honors faculty are selected by nomination of students and faculty on the basis of the quality of their teaching and their commitment to the scholarly development of their students.
- 1984-present. Clinical Associate Professor of Psychology, Administrative Director, Psychological Services Center. State University of New York at Buffalo. Graduate level courses in Personality Assessment, Research Methods, Psychopathology, Personality Disorders, and Anxiety Disorders; Clinical and Research supervision of graduate students. Incorporated a variety of multimedia and computer technology into my courses including the use of PowerPoint and CD-ROM presentations for class, E-Mail discussion lists, and World Wide Web pages. Course ratings consistently at or above the 90th percentile for the university.
- 1978-1984. Assistant Professor of Psychology. State University of New York at Buffalo. Undergraduate and Graduate Courses in General Psychology, Psychopathology, Clinical Assessment, Statistics, Research Methods, and Clinical Intervention; Clinical and Research supervision of graduate students.
- 1977-1978. Clinical Instructor (2 quarters). Medical College of Wisconsin, Milwaukee.
- 1974-1977. Teaching Assistant (4 semesters). University of Wisconsin, Madison. Won a University Superior Teaching Award in 1977 (given to six graduate student teaching assistants selected from the entire university).
Clinical Experience
- New York State Licensed (# 007832)
- 1999-present. Co-Director, Insomnia Treatment Clinic, Millard Fillmore Hospital. Helped set up a behavioral treatment program for insomnia within a Sleep Disorders Clinic.
- 1990-present. Director and Founder, Anxiety Disorders Clinic, Psychological Services Center. Created and directed this research and training clinic specializing in the evaluation and behavioral treatment of anxiety disorders.
- 1984-present. Director, Psychological Services Center. Administration of the research and training clinic for the Ph.D. graduate training program in clinical psychology.
- 1992-1995. Backup to the Clinical Director, CMG Health of Western New York. Provide consultation to case managers and emergency coverage for the largest Psychiatric Managed Care program in Western New York. Conducts evaluation of key elements of the program.
- 1984-present. Private Practice. Specializing in clinical evaluation, behavioral and cognitive treatment of psychological dysfunction (especially anxiety and personality disorders), and behavioral medicine. Conducts evaluations for the Office of Disability Determinations (SSI) and served as an Employee Assistance Consultant for Employee Services, Inc. (Wellsville, NY). (approximately ten hours per week).
- 1978-present. Clinical Supervision. Includes both group and individual supervision in a variety of techniques including behavioral, cognitive, and ego-analytic approaches to therapy. Specialization in the treatment of personality disorders and anxiety disorders and in diagnostic assessment.
- 1977-78. Clinical Internship. Veterans Administration Center, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. A general medical and surgical hospital. Training in inpatient and outpatient psychiatry, neuropsychology, rehabilitation, and behavioral medicine.
- 1972-present. Diagnostic testing. Over 3000 hours of actual patient contact in diagnostic and testing situations on various research projects or as part of a private practice. Diagnostic categories represented include schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorders, major depression, bipolar disorders, personality disorders, anxiety disorders, head injured patients, and retarded adults.
- 1972-1977. University of Wisconsin Psychology Department. Training in behavioral, cognitive-behavioral, and psychodynamic treatment approaches. Seminar in assessment and treatment of sexual dysfunctions. Training in a variety of assessment techniques including traditional psychological assessment, behavioral assessment, and neuropsychological assessment.
