General Handouts
- Chaos in the Brickyard This is a tongue-in-cheek fable written as a letter to the editor of Science about how the increasingly efficient scientific laboratories seemed to be losing sight of the backbone of science--scientific theory. It was included as a box in the second edition of the text, but deleted in the interest of space in this edition. [filename: chaos.*]
- APA Ethical Principles for Research This is the complete text of the APA ethical guidelines for research. [filename: ethics.*]
- Improving Your Writing This is a concise set of recommendations that covers many of the common faults found in the technical writing of many college students. [filename: write.*]
Statistical Computation Handouts
These handouts provide computational examples. These examples had been included in the Second Edition of the text, but were deleted because we chose to emphasize computerized data analysis in the Third Edition.
- Median [filename: median.*]
- Pearson Product-Moment Correlation [filename: pearson.*]
- Spearman Rank-Order Correlation [filename: sprman.*]
- Simple t-test [filename: t-test.*]
- Direct Difference t-test [filename: dirdiff.*]
- One-Way ANOVA [filename: one-way.*]
- Planned Comparison [filename: plcomp.*]
- Two-Way ANOVA [filename: two-way.*]
Statistical Tables
These tables had been included in the Second Edition, but were deleted in the Third Edition because we chose to emphasize computerized statistical analyses and deemphasize manual computations.
- Normal Distribution [filename: normal.*]
- t-table [filename:t-tab.*]
- F-table [filename:f-tab.*]
- Pearson Product-Moment Correlation Table [filename: peartab.*]
- Spearman Rank-Order Correction Table [filename: sprtab.*]
