Harley -- a very special boy FOUND a very special human

Harley has FOUND his very special humans! UPDATE August 2004: Harley has blossomed in his new home! He now snuggles with Dad, and loves to play with his new dog friend.

Harley spent two weeks in the adoption crate at the vets, and luckily a very kind lady fell in love with his sweet face. She understands that he moves slowly, and doesn't see as well as other cats. She recognizes his spirit -- a hidden treasure, and has delighted in discovering Harley's true nature: a very sweet baby who loves to snuggle, however briefly.

Harley was the dominant male in his territory for much of his adult life, and likely fathered quite a few kittens, until one day he came home battered, bruised, and beat-up. Another roving tomcat fought well that day, and Harley was never the same. He was beaten up mostly around his ears and head, and although his body healed, we believe he must have been slightly brain-damaged.

While at our house, Harley spent most of the day sleeping under our big futon. At night, he would venture out into his room, usually to sit quietly next to his day refuge, or watch the world go by on the windowsill. He responded very slowly, but with the right touch, he nudged his beautiful head forward to ask for more pets on the sides of his face, or one more massage around his ear. Harley spent about 8 weeks with 6 kittens who have also been adopted, and they taught him the joy of playing with a ball again.

I am so grateful to this wonderful family for being patient and appreciating Harley for all he can be. Thank you!
