Position Title: Outside Plant Design Engineer
This position designs and prepares detailed work plans for toll, trunk,
and exchange feeder and distribution outside plant cable jobs from the
Central Office to the customers serving terminal and/or interface. This
includes all structures, cable (copper and fiber) and associated equipment
for aerial, underground, buried, submarine, pair gain, and DLC systems.
A primary function of this position is to understand and apply new technological
systems and multiple vendor products (such as transitional SONET and Loop
Fiber Systems) based on network and market needs. Prepares and submits
Outside Plant routine and specific estimates for approval. Monitors and
analyzes telephone activity within a geographical turf area. Coordinates
and conducts liaison activity for both progress and contractual compliance.
