Course Description:

This course will have the format of a literary workshop in that we will spend classtime revising the week's assignment. We will spend the entire semester revising the students' translated versisons of Juan García Ponce's play entitled Catálogo razonado.


Goals:

To produce a translated second draft of the entire play, Catálogo razonado. To submit at the end of the semester a final polished version of a scene from the play: 7 to 10 pages in length.


Requirements:

1. Students will come to class with the number of assigned pages translated and ready to discuss difficult passages and to offer possible solutions. Assignments range from 6 to 11 pages of text per week. Students will be assigned one paragraph which should be as polished as possible.

2. If absent, students must send Professor Vargas the assignment via email.


Grade distribution:

Weekly assignments: (Translated pages must be turned in at the end of class. Late and incomplete work will receive a lower grade.) 50%

Class participation: 20%

Final project: 30%

*NOTE*: There is no extra credit available in this course.
