1. Attendance: 2 free absences (oral grade lowered after
3rd).
2. Oral participation: students must be prepared for each class and
must participate actively to receive good oral grade.
3. Three exams: I, Sept. 27; II, Nov. 1; III, Dec. 8.
a. Each exam will cover material read up to date of examination; ie.
exams are not cumulative.
4. Answer and be prepared to hand in the questions at the end of each
reading assignment. Students will occasionally be asked to lead class
discussion.
5. Papers: two 4-6 double-spaced, typed pages (about 1000 words).
a. 1-inch margins all around, 12 point type
b. pages should be numbered
c. give your papers a title
d. due dates: Paper I, October 11 and Paper II, on or before December
16.
e. Take these questions into
account.
The papers will consist of a literary analysis of a text discussed in
class or of a work by an author belonging to the periods discussed.
Papers submitted to other instructors are unacceptable.
