My main research and teaching interests are in women's theater, Mexican literature, Spanish-American theater, and contemporary Mexican film. The primary theoretical approaches that inform my work include feminisms and postmodernism.

The two main goals of my literature classes at the Undergraduate level are helping students establish the protocols necessary to confront a text critically and giving them the opportunity to put to practice their Spanish oral and writing skills.

At the Graduate level I prefer the seminar format. During the last twelve years my seminars have had a dual component: one literary and the other theoretical. What interests me is to establish a dialogue between the two discursive modes. We have examined Foucault's theory of power relations, gender and genre issues, feminist positions, theories of identity, postmodernism, and theories of globalization.

Mis intereses pedagógicos y de investigación incluyen la dramaturgia femenina contemporánea, la literatura mexicana, el teatro hispanoamericano del siglo veinte y cine mexicano contemporáneo. Los marcos teóricos principales de mi trabajo son el feminismo y el postmodernismo.

A nivel subgraduado las dos metas que me impongo son dar a los estudiantes la oportunidad de mejorar su expresión en español y de desarrollar las estrategias necesarias para leer cualquier texto con un ojo crítico.

A nivel graduado prefiero ofrecer seminarios que incluyen dos componentes, uno literario y el otro teórico. Lo que me interesa es establecer un diálogo entre los dos modos discursivos. Las teorías que hemos examinado incluyen las ideas sobre las relaciones de poder de Foucault, cuestiones de género (tanto literario como sexual), feminismo, postmodernismo y teorías de identidad y globalización.
