The business we have chosen to add a database to is Koto Japanese Hibachi and Bistro. This is a restaurant in the heart of Syracuse, New York. Koto is a unique restaurant that serves as Syracuse’s main source of Japanese food. On average Koto will receive about 150 reservations a night. For a restaurant with around 50 tables, this is an incredible amount of business, and overall a lot to keep track of. Prior to the implementation of our database Koto takes their reservations down in a manual reservation book every night. This is done in a notebook by hand with a pen. Our business expert is Kyle Rogers, a former employee at Koto. A major flaw of the restaurant is the fact that some nights the restaurant tends to overstaff. There might be 3 or 4 servers that could easily be sent home on a given night. With the given database and the ability to predict restaurant activity, he believes the restaurant will save money in wages by eliminating over-staffing. This raises profits and the overall business value of the company.
