Lab 2: CartoDB

For this lab, CartoDB was used to publish a map showing airport routes, by airline, from Vancouver International Airport (YVR) Toronto International Airport (YYZ).

The above flow map shows all flights with origin in Vancouver International Airport. The flights are classified based on airline. A cooresponding color is assigned to each ariline; these color assignments are shown in the legend. Note that flight paths are displayed to illistrate the influence of the curvation of earth. The displayed routes may not be representative of the actual paths taken by the aircrafts.

The above choropleth map, entitled "USA Drought Levels" shows drought severity within the United States. Drought levels are categorized as abnormal, moderate, severe, extreme, or exceptional. The legend shows the coorespoding color value to these categories. Drought levels are particularly high in the western portion of the U.S., most notably, California and Nevada. Drought data were downloaded from US Drought Monitor.
