Water damaged books from the Mayville Supreme Court Law Library. The extensive collection and its updates were stored for a few years during construction. This project took several weeks to open and update the materials required for a functioning public law library.

Employment:

New York State Unified Court System

Law Library Assistant, Supreme Court Library at Buffalo

Weekly reference desk shifts, collection development for several public law libraries, maintenance of legal reference print materials, and miscellaneous project assignments. Print collection reduction, records managment, barcoding collections, and data entry addressed daily.

Computer Aided Legal Research skills include Lois Law, HeinOnline, LexisNexis, Westlaw, and numerous authoritative websites.

Computer software experience with Symphony, Microsoft Office 2007 and 2010 products, WordPerfect Office X4, GroupWise, Chrome, Firefox, and cloud computing applications. Web 2.0 technologies are learned and applied in the workplace.

Junior Court Analyst, Mental Hygiene Legal Service

Maintenance of print legal reference materials, secretarial responsibilities for the Director and Deputy Director, records managment for the agency, and Article 81 financial tasks.

Senior Secretary to Judge, New York State Court of Claims

Checked citations, proofed decisions, records managment, and court recording until the Judge retired. At that time the assignment was transferred unofficially to the Seventh Judicial District Supreme Court Law Library. Library responsibilities included assisting patrons with research tasks, maintenance of print materials, and the organization and shifting of the historical collection.

 

Past Employment Experiences

Merchandise sales at Rochester sporting events and concerts. These jobs required the fast and accurate handling of large sums of cash, pduction of correct change without a calculator, and the quick mental computation of U.S./Canada exchange rates for cash transactions.

Parking lot attendant for Buffalo and Rochester sporting and theatre events. Accurate money counting was a mandatory skill for this position.

YMCA child care provider, swim instructor, lifeguard, Special Olympics swim coach, day camp Aquatics Director, pre-soccer coach, camp counselor.

Residential Aide to the Developmentally Disabled.
