Connecting from a personal computer or a UBIT loaner laptop

Connecting

If you are connecting remotely using a Windows computer:

  2. Browse to the folder corresponding to the first character of your ubitname
  3. Download your ubitname.rdp file
  4. Open the file you just downloaded
  5. Enter your UBIT username and password and accept any prompts
  6. Accept the Duo push or call to your phone
  7. You will be connected to your desktop
If you are connecting remotely using an Apple computer:

  2. View the spreadsheet to obtain your PC name
  3. Follow the instructions here: https://www.buffalo.edu/ubit/remote-mac
  4. Use the PC name obtained from the spreadsheet during configuration
If you are connecting remotely using a Chromebook:
  1. Install the Microsoft Remote Desktop app from the Google Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.microsoft.rdc.android&hl=en_US
  2. Run the Remote Desktop app and accept the license agreement

  4. Browse to the folder corresponding to the first character of your ubitname
  5. Download your ubitname.rdp file
  6. Open the file you just downloaded
  7. Enter your UBIT username and password and accept any prompts
  8. Accept the Duo push or call to your phone
  9. You will be connected to your desktop

Troubleshooting

Problem

Accept the Duo Push or Duo phone call after signing in. If you do not have Push or Call configured you will need to add a device at https://twostep.buffalo.edu

Problem
"I can't open the file because the file format or file extension is not valid. Verify that the file has not been corrupted"

Solution
Run Symantec Encryption Desktop from the start menu before try to access your files
