This collection of songs is dedicated to my friends from the Music Horizons program at the Eastman Community Music School, all of whom were immensely talented and with whom I hope to cross paths in the future.

Alway and Forever

I miss you; as if I had any choice to
Do you ever feel this way
I wouldn't know

Hard to say who will spring forth from me and you
Or if you'll remember us
When it's time

I'll say it simply
I love you, alway and forever
Although it's not good enough
It's all I have; all I could give

It's hard to speak; I can't say what I mean to
Such a fiery sentiment
Forged in iron

Could you spare me just a moment in your thoughts
When I'm reaching out to you
I am right here

It's bigger than all of us combined
A fiber connected through space and through time
It will tell you how I'm feeling
Won't you tell me how you're feeling

I'll say it simply
I love you, alway and forever
And although it's not good enough
It's all I have; all I could give

Alway and forever

Miles

Stay awake or stay away
A thousand pilgrims on the quay

Your dreams are hard for me to take
So, from your words I was mistaken
Your blood's calligraphy is pale
The cherry trees bend in the gale

I saw a citadel below
Can you picture an underground city
Can we find it?
Shall we go now?

It's too dangerous here

"The woods are lovely, dark and deep
But I have promises to keep
And miles to go before I sleep
And miles to go before I sleep"

Untangling you was a struggle before
Now I see how it's done
But there's nothing that's sure

Psuedonym

Stark as the morning
That follows this long night;
As after a breeze, when heat is searing

They called for arraignment
His only crime was love and still
The penalty was death
Oh, if only...

It's too late; I'll escape, take another name
In the wake of the flood I was staving off
I'll admit, it was written in every book I read
What to do and to say when you're gone

Time must release me
But the wait is increasing
It's so hard to adjust

Any second, why I just might
Say a prayer for those who came before

(Just away from the pier;
There was some promise here
I can't break free from the nape
of the neck that you're holding, holding)

I'll see you there, but beware
We are not the same

(I was the weaker one)

It's too late; I'll escape, take another name
In the wake of the flood I was staving off
I'll admit, it was written in every book I read
What to do and to say when you're gone

Now that you are free
When I get down on my knees
I've been seeing a ghost
in the hollow of my hand

(It's alright;
We remember you
Almost every day now)

Regret

Paint a picture of our always
With the palette of a winter's day
I sketch in the traces of rain
A little cottage with a weathervane

This is the kind of happiness we weren't meant to possess; ooh, no
So you come to regret what I'd forgotten to leave behind

Ripped the pages from the diary
These are thoughts on which I must not tarry
I stare across the now-barren land
The ink drips like blood spilt upon my hands

With the fall there comes a sadness none can redress; ooh, woe
So you come to regret what I'd forgotten to leave behind

I brought her jasmine and an orchid
trying to raise her heavy eyelids
Searching for a drop of remorse
To animate this body with its force

If only all this weakness I could confess; ooh, no
So you come to regret what I'd forgotten to leave behind
(It's all static now)

Thin Line

I hear your footsteps, calling
One misstep and we are falling
I am all alone by the telephone

It's a thin line
He's bad news
It's a thin line that binds me to you

Lie down amidst the briers
The crimson maps hide your desire
Will you ever leave, tell me earnestly

It's a thin line
He's bad news
It's a thin line that binds me to you

Who knew it would cost so dearly
He took your life and called it charity
Draining from your veins as if you were sugarcane

Resting your eyes on the sacrament cup
Come over to my place, I'll set you up
You are lost and so am I

It's a thin line
He's bad news
It's a thin line that binds me to you

Tu me manques

It's been a century since I last saw you
Loneliness makes for a pretty rough time
Counting out questions for always and always
Beginning to wonder what really was real

I wish you were here
I miss you to death

I sing like a wan songbird and what does it bring me?
A handful of syllables choke in my throat
I'll write you a letter with diligent phrases
The message delivered, I must fly away

Still

I wish you were here
I miss you to death
