My name is Katie Simon. I was born in a small town in Olean, NY. I have always called Olean home, and it is filled with family and friends that I can always count on. Now I'm getting a taste of city life as a student at the University at Buffalo.
University at Buffalo (UB), is a research university in the State University of New York school system. With over 26,000 students, UB provides diverse exposure to academics, the arts, and athletics. My current major as an undergrad is Communicative Disorders and Sciences. I hope to continue on to graduate school to become a speech therapist. I love UB for its constant events at the Student Union, art exhibits at the Center for the Arts, numerous clubs, and premier educational oportunities.
I am always trying to expand my base of knowledge, learn, and experience new things. My interests include music: both listening to and playing it. My favorite instruments to play include the piano and the violin. I have taken piano lessons since second grade, and violin lessons since fourth grade. I also have an interest in the visual arts and never pass up an opportunity to visit the Modern Museum of Art (MOMA) in New York City. Esao Andrews and Alex Derwick are some of my favorite artists. Finally, I have an interest in literature and politics. My family has always encouraged discussion about books and current events. Some of my favorite authors include Robert Creeley and Jonathan Safran Foer. These interests are the basis for the hobbies I choose.
