Regional Officers

Meet our current officers! We are always looking to meet new membersand friends from our and other sections of USITT so please introduce yourself to us.

Chair : Sean Culligan

Sean Culligan is currently the Technical Director/Production Manager at SUNY Oswego. He has experience working in regional, academic, and summer stock theatres across the northeast. Sean has presented at regional and national conferences of USITT and has his MFA from Yale School of Drama. Sean has been Chair of the Upstate New York section since Fall 2010.

Katie is a alumni of the University at Buffalo technical theater program from the Class of 2010. She has made Buffalo her home working and designing around the area. Katie works full time for the UB Center for the Arts Production Team as Assistant Production Manager and Theater Technician. Katie has light artistic works covering the mediums of dance, theater, concerts & live events in a number of venues. Katie has worn multiple hats from Props Master to Scenic Painter as part of the design teams for productions at Road Less Traveled, New Phoenix, &Shakespeare in Delaware Park Theater Companies as well as Technical Director & Resident Lighting Designer for Subversive Theater in the recent past.

D. Jefferson Reeder’s work encompasses stage and screen, spanning more than 39 years. His background includes stints at the Santa Fe Opera, The Lyric Theatre in Oklahoma City, The Fort Worth Opera, and the DFW Ballet. He has worked on several motion pictures, both for independents films and major Hollywood studios. He has designed sets, lighting, and costumes for regional theatre and dance companies across the Southwest as well as television. He was the staff designer for Pier I Imports photo studio and worked for decades as a faux painter. He received his MFA in Design from Texas Christian University. His design work includes Ballet, Modern Dance, Opera, Drama, Film and even restaurant interiors. He has worked as an Interior Decorator, Rock and Roll roadie, and General Manager of Bechtel Chemical Corporation. He was the Executive Director and designer of The Reeder Children’s School of Theatre and Design from 1979 through 1986. He decided to return to the academic stage from professional theatre in the fall of 2003.

Rebecca Misenheimer is the Theater Designer and Technical Director at St. Bonaventure University, where she has taught Stagecraft, Design, Intro to Theater and other courses for the last five years. Her design credits at Bonaventure include As You Like It, Dead Man Walking, Dracula, and Revenge of the Space Pandas. She has also taught as Ashland University in Ohio, and Franklin and Marshall College in Pennsylvania. Rebecca has been an active participant in KCACTF for better than five years, presenting workshops, serving as a production and design respondent, and even taking productions to the Region III festival in 2005 & 2006. Professionally, Rebecca spent three years as the Production Manager for the Ashland Summer Theatre Festival, where her design credits include Talley's Folly, 1776, and A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. She has also designed for the Ashland Regional Ballet and the Ashland Community Arts Center youth theatre program and the Ensemble Theatre Company at the Cleveland Playhouse. Rebecca received her M.F.A. in Theatre from the University of South Carolina, and her B.A. from Randolph-Macon College in Virginia, and has worked at numerous regional and summer stock theatre companies, including Williamstown Theatre Festival in Massachusetts, New Harmony Theatre in Indiana, and Actors Theatre of Louisville, Kentucky, where she survived the Humana Festival of New American Plays.

Originally from North Syracuse, NY, graduated from SUNY Oswego, has been the Technical Director of the Theatre Department at Binghamton University for the past 30 years. Prior to that, was the TD at SUNY Cortland for 7 years. Has been a member of USITT since the early 1970's, Upstate NY section since the early 1980's and treasurer since the early 1990's.

Ms. Ralph is Associate Professor of Theatre at The College at Brockport, State University of New York where she serves as chair and scenic designer. Prior to her current appointment, she was Artistic Director and Designer at the National Technical Institute for the Deaf where she supervised the construction and equipping of a new facility designed to accommodate the needs of a deaf audience, faculty and staff. She is a member of the KC/ACTF Region II Design, Tech and Management Task Force; and is the Theatre Design and Technology Focus Group Representative for the Association of Theatre in Higher Education (ATHE). In addition to these organizations, she is a member of the Society for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education, USITT, and Athens Institute for Education and Research.. Professionally, she was, for seventeen years, a freelance scenic and lighting designer for professional AEA and non-AEA companies; has been artistic director of a women’s theatre company as well as partner in a production company. As an actor, she continues to perform on stage and in film. She has directed at the college and university level as well as professionally in Ireland and Antigua, West Indies. She has sat and currently sits on the board of several professional theatre companies. Her scholarship is in the areas of design, assessment and theatre program accessibility issues.
