http://www.sussex.ac.uk/its/helpdesk/faq.php?faqid=985 How can I import an Outlook Express address book to Mulberry? The following information is given as a guide for those wishing to migrate from Outlook Express to Mulberry. We cannot offer any other support for the use of Outlook Express. We have found that attempting to import Outlook address books into Mulberry using its own menu option for importing Outlook does not seem to work, hence the following rather elaborate workaround: The first step is to export your address book from Outlook Express: Click the Addresses button, or open the Tools menu and choose Address Book. In the Address Book window, open the File menu and choose Export, then click Other Address Book, then select Text File (comma separated values). Click the Export button, and choose a name for the exported file (it will have a .csv extension). Click the Next button. Choose the address book fields to export: it will be simplest if you chose only Name, Nickname and Email Address, and de-select any others that are selected. Click the Finish button. Click the OK button when finished. You may also need to close the Save Exported File window. The second step is to open the saved file in Excel and save it as a tab-delimited text file. We will also need to swap two of the data columns because they are not in the correct order for importing into Mulberry. In Excel, open the .csv file you saved earlier from Outlook Express. You will need to choose .csv from the list of file types when opening the file. Three columns of data should be on display, with Name, Nickname and Email Address as the column headings. Swap the first two columns around, as follows: Open a new column by selecting column A (click the A title bar heading), open the Insert menu and choose Columns. Select what will now be column C and drag-and-drop the entire column into the new, empty column A. Select what will be column C and drag-and-drop the entire column into the new, empty column A. You can do this by clicking the C title bar at the top of the column, which selects the entire column, then move the mouse pointer so that it points to the boundary between the column header and the column data (it will change from a large + sign to an arrow) and then hold down the left mouse button and drag the arrow pointer to the top of column A. The data will be moved from column C to column A. Delete the now-empty column C (select the column bar, then open the Edit menu and choose Delete). Delete the first row of data (this has the Nickname, Name and Email Address headings, which we don't need). Now open the File menu and choose Save As. Choose Text (tab delimited) *.txt as the file type, and choose a name and destination if required. Excel may query whether you want to save in this format. Click the Yes button to confirm. Close Excel - click the No button if it asks if you want to save changes. The third and final step (phew!) is to import this file into Mulberry: In Mulberry, open the Addresses menu and select Address Book Manager. Click IMSP Address Book once to select it. Click the New button to create a new Address Book. Choose a name and enter this into the box provided. Select Personal Address Book and select other options from the list provided, as desired. With the new address book window open, open the Addresses menu and choose Import Address, and select Pine from the list of options (this is because the file we have just created with Excel is in Pine address book format: the Outlook format doesn't appear to work). Choose the file and click the Open button. The addresses should now appear in the new address book window. http://www.sussex.ac.uk/its/helpdesk/faq.php?faqid=985
