Interests

Since I find all areas of linguistics to be fascinating, I'll try to limit myself here to just a few of my current obsessions:

Typology
Endangered Languages
Papuan Languages, specifically Torricelli languages
Yeri, a Wapei-Palei language of Papua New Guinea
Epenthesis

Current Projects

With the number of languages on the verge of extinction, documenting those languages before they are lost has become an important concern in the field of linguistics. I am currently working on an endangered language spoken by one village in the Torricelli mountains. I spent the summer of 2010 collecting data and working with some of the most generous, bright, enthusiastic and friendly people I have ever met, and I hope to spend the next summer doing the same. More information regarding this language can be found here.
