This lab utilized data of each airport's flight routes. The concept of this map is useful for other applications. For example, if you were trying to track the movement of a disease from airport travelers, where color represents the date they showed symptoms. All airport information came from OpenFlights.org
This portion of the lab showed where high incidences of drought are occurring in the USA. This type of map is very useful when showing a multitude of ecological issues, such as: flooding areas, areas with high rates of forest fires, areas with high incidences of water contamination. State data came from Natural Earth and drought data came from United States Drought Monitor.
