Advanced Group Leadership Training

 

Presenters - Jeremiah Donigian, D.Ed. and William Kline, Ph.D.

 

Dr. Jeremiah Donigian and Dr. William Kline will facilitate an all day interactive experiential training designed to enhance group leadership skills for task, psychoeducational, and counseling groups. Participants will receive information on effective group leadership skills and intervention as well as have an opportunity to practice and observe group leadership skills in action in a small group format.

 

 

Jeremiah Donigian, D.Ed. is past president of the Association for Specialists in Group Work, is a Fellow in ASGW and has received the ASGW Eminent Career Award.  He is a member of the American Counseling Association, and a clinical member and approved supervisor of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy.  Dr. Donigian is Professor Emeritus from the Counseling Education Department at the State University of New York at Brockport.  He has coauthored Critical Incidents in Group Therapy (2nd edition, 1997), Systemic Group Therapy: A Triadic Model I (1999), and Making Task Groups Work in Your World (2001).  He continues his private practice in marriage, family, and group therapy.  He also has served as a consultant to various organizations and systems and has conducted workshops and seminars at the local, state, regional, national, and international levels.

 

William Kline, Ph.D., PCC, NCC, CCMHC, CGP is a Counselor Education program faculty member at the University of Mississippi. Dr. Kline has served as a faculty member at various institutions and has an extensive range of experiences in agencies and private practice. His primary teaching areas include masters and doctoral level courses in group counseling, qualitative research, professional orientation, and supervision of practica and internships. Along with his role as a program faculty member, he serves as Editor for Counselor Education and Supervision the journal for the Association for Counselor Education and Supervision.

Dr. Kline has served as a member of editorial boards for the Journal in Specialists in Group Work and Counselor Education and Supervision. He has participated on national certification bodies (National Board for Certified Counselors – Clinical Academy and the National Academy for Certified Clinical Mental Health Counselors). He also has served on numerous committees for the ASGW and other ACA divisions and has been president of the Rocky Mountain Association for Counselor Education and Supervision. Dr. Kline has received recognition for his scholarship and career contributions in group work having twice received article of the year awards from the Journal for Specialists in Group Work and the Eminent Career Award from the ASGW in 2003. In 2004, the membership of the ASGW named him a Fellow in the organization. His publications include articles in the areas of group supervision, group process, group leadership and coleadership, group counselor training processes, and counselor development. In 2003, Dr. Kline published Interactive Group Counseling and Therapy. He has presented extensively in the area of group work at state, regional, national, and international venues.
