A computer technology that supports substance of abuse program typically entails an employee's complaince in personally communicating to a local laboratory to take one of the bevies of drug screening method available. For random drug screens, computer generated reports of a random selection of employees are selected from a pool. The medical review office distributes a list of randomly selected employees to the client's human resource manager, who in turn sends the employees to a laboratory to take the test. By having the medical review office do the random selection, it eliminates the opportunity for managers to send their employees to take a random drug test when in fact they may have intended to have done so due to resonable suspicion.
