Database Relations

The museum displays different exhibitions related to geology. It is open to the public and has illustration of geological knowledge to different levels of people. There are guides in every exhibition hall and they take groups of visitors around the hall for tours and give lively narrations of the exhibitions. Once every month, the museum is free to all the college students with valid student ID cards. On the particular day, number of visitors would increase and some exhibition halls tend to be crowded and short of guides due to the unreasonable allocation of guides.

The proposed system is to process the acquired visitors’ information to achieve a better allocation of resources. The methodology is to count (e.g. count card slides at the entrance of the halls) visitors in each exhibition halls and use Microsoft Access to create a database on visitors and their visiting information. Based on this information, we can relocate guide resources to make the guiding system functions more efficiently.
