Years of 20th Century Events
  1. (a)Years event occured can be used at the Explanatory variable because they are an absolute year, whereas the estimated year event occured is a guess.
    (b) If you had guessed the correct year for each event the scatterplot would be in a straight line
  1. (a) In this case I thought it would be best to use strikes and lockouts as the explanatory variable, and the union membership percentage as the response variable, because it would make sense that a rise in strikes and lockouts would push more companies to form union memberships
    (b) There is somewhat of a positive association
    (c) The second scatterplot shows union member percentage as the explanatory variable, and strikes and lockouts as the response variable
    (d) In this scatterplot there is still a somewhat positive association between the Union Membership percentage, and Strikes and Lockouts. This is shown on both charts because either way there is a general rise in Union Membership percentage following a rise in Strikes and lockouts and vice versa
