About Me
I am currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Management Science and Systems (MSS), School of Management, University at Buffalo, New York. Prior to my current appointment I served as an Associate Research Scientist at the Center for Computational Learning Systems (CCLS) at Columbia University, NY where I headed the Scalable Analytics Research Group.

My research focuses on mining big data. I am interested in distributed and parallel algorithms for machine learning and distributed optimization. The federal government and several industry partners have generously funded my research including the National Science Foundation, National Endowment of Humanities, Amazon Web Services, EMC, Mathworks Inc, Epilepsy Research Foundation and the Consolidated Edison Company of New York.

I teach MGS 655, Distributed Computing and Big Data Technologies in Fall. This is a core course for MS in Management Information Systems (MIS) students. I also teach a special topics course in Spring, MGS 662, Machine Learning for IT Managers, which covers convex optimization algorithms for learning.
I have been an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Department of Computer Science, Columbia University and taught an 'An Introduction to Distributed Data Mining' in Spring 2011 and Spring 2012.
I have also taught 'Distributed Data Mining' at IIIT-Delhi in Spring 2013.
