An Explorer's Guide to the Westchester County Libraries
Tuckahoe Public Library
The Tuckahoe Public Library is accessible by car, bus, or train. Parking could be a little bit tricky at this library, with only five designated parking spots for library users. Everything is organized on one level and is fully handicapped accessible. Serving a small population of about 6,500, half of which are library card holders, the TPL sees over 60,000 library visits and hosts nearly 400 programs for children, teens, and adults annually. In 2013, the library budget was cut by $50,000, and as a result the library lost 7 hours a week open to the public. Library utilization was limited because of the cut and the total circulation of library materials saw a 17% decrease from 2010 to 2013.
The collection is on the small side compared to other libraries in Westchester (approx. 111,000) but includes a good selection. The staff is also very helpful!
