The Hasting-On-Hudson Public Library serves a population of approximately 8,000 and sees about 130,00 circulation transactions per year. Juvenile material makes up 45% of the book collection.

Overall, the library provides a great place to read and study, with private study rooms. In addition to offering wireless printing and a copy machine, the reference area offers use of a scanner and fax machine. Most of the rooms have stunning views of the Hudson River, the Palisades, and the Manhattan skyline just past the George Washington Bridge. The outdoor space includes and small amphitheater, picnic tables, and sculptures on the lawn. Through spring and fall, the library parking lot is home to a weekly Farmers Market with locally grown food and live music.
