An Explorer's Guide to the Westchester County Libraries
Bronxville Public Library
The BPL serves a small community of 6,000. Although they rank at the bottom of the list for hours open per week, the circulation desk sees nearly 150,000 transactions per year. The library has a designated parking lot and handicapped accessible parking from the front of the building only. It is also within walking distance to the village and accessible by bus or train. In 2013, the BPL sponsored nearly 700 programs and always has a full calendar of events for children.
Although the library does not house a large collection, library users can enjoy the comfortable and home-like atmosphere. There are also many impressive paintings on the wall that would make this library worth the visit. The 2001 renovation and expansion of the library was significantly funded by the sale of a painting that was on the wall for many years, Central Park (1892) by Childe Hassam, which sold at an auction for $4.5 Million in 1998.
