This year's event is history! Return here for info on the 2012 event.
COME RIDE THE TRAIN BACK IN TIME
Come to Arcade, New York to take part in a unique Civil War reenactment. For two days in August, the Arcade & Attica Railroad is under siege, as Union and Confederate forces try to gain control of the
steam locomotive and cars filled with passengers. Reenactors interact with spectators, up close and personal, and everybody is part of the action.
This is a great first person weekend. The raiders stop the train, take control while fighting the opposition, and divert the steaming locomotive down an alternate route. Skirmishes occur forcing them to retrace their route to find another way to go. Interacting between reenactors and spectators is encouraged and unavoidable. Everyone goes back in time at this event!
There are five runs for the weekend (3 on Sat., 2 on Sun.) and Saturday evening dinner is available to participants (a barbeque with lots of food). Skirmishes and scenarios on each train run! Lots of first person activities if you want.
Arcade, New York is about 45 minutes south of Buffalo, New York. It is easy to reach from Western New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, or Ontario, Canada.
The Arcade & Attica's route goes through rustic, period-like countryside (only a few modern points along the way). Every attempt is made to make the experience as enjoyable and rewarding for both spectators and participants. Also, the town of Arcade supports this event with enthusiasm. You will find few events as popular as this.
Civilian activities include: Saturday, Antebellum Tea; Sunday, Peach Social, and more. Civilians will also be riding the train, portraying pro-rebel or pro-Union travellers, either assisting or antagonizing the soldiers on board.
