Grades

Here is the final gradesheet for the course.

The gradesheet is updated with the grades from Exam 4.

6/26 — Final Exam Stuff
  • Exam 5 and solutions
  • Exam 4 and solutions
  • You will be given a copy of this formula sheet with the final
  • See the announcements on 6/23 for notes about studying for the final.
  • Recommended HW for sections 16.8 and 16.9:
    16.8: 3, 5, 7, 9, 15, 19*
    16.9: 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 25*, 27*
    Starred* problems are enthusiastically recommended

A single looseleaf page from one student's exam 3 was misplaced.  If anyone finds it in with their exam, please email me.

6/23 — Exam Stuff
  • Info for Exam 5
  • Recommended HW for 16.7: 5, 7, 9, 13, 17, 19, 21, 23, 25, 29, 37
  • Studying for the Final:
    • The Recommended HW and old exams will be an excellent resource for the final exam.  Many of the problems from the final will come from old exams and recommended HW problems.
    • The  enthusiastically recommended problems from each of the  previous exams are still enthusiastically recommended for the final.  In addition to the old enthusiastically recommended problems, you should also do:
      • 13.2: 45, 53
      • 13.3 59
      • 15.4: 40abc
      • OMIT all other enthusiastically recommended problems from chapter 15
    • Don't worry about Lagrange Multipliers (14.8) or Change of Variables (15.10).  These topics will not appear on the final.

6/21 — Surface Integrals, Stokes' Theorem, and the Divergence Theorem

6/20 — Green's Theorem, Curl, Divergence, and Parameterized Surfaces
  • Grades are updated with scores from exam 3.
  • Notes for the rest of 16.4 through 16.6
  • Recommended HW:
    16.1:  11-14,
    16.2: 7, 15, 17, 21, 49, 50

    16.4: 1, 3, 5, 7, 9,11, 13, 29
    16.5: 1, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 17, 19, 21, 22, 25, 31

    15.9: 1, 3, 7, 9, 15, 21, 23, 25, 29, 35, 39
    15.10:  3, 5,  9, 15, 17, 19, 21

6/13 — Triple Integrals, Cylindrical Coordinates, and Spherical Coordinates
  • New Notes for 15.9 through 15.10, with one more example for 15.8.  These should take us through the end of the week, although we may get to 16.1 on Thursday.
    • Note:  The file numbering system for the notes in this chapter are a little screwy, because I just now realized that the 7th edition of the text has added a new section in 15.6.  We will be covering the material from 15.6 in a more general form in 16.6, so 15.6 will not appear on exam 4.
  • New Recommended HW will be posted sometime Wednesday night, as will the solutions to exam 3.
  • Script for spherical regions demo.

6/12 — Double Integrals Over More General Regions, Polar Coordinates and Triple Integrals
  • Notes for Sections 15.4 through 15.8 We will pick up in the notes from last time at section 15.3 (double integrals over more general regions)
  • Recommended HW:
    15.1: 17
    15.2: 3, 5, 11, 15, 17, 19,  21, 27, 35, 37
    15.3: 1, 5, 9, 15, 17, 21, 23, 27, 29, 43, 47, 49, 51, 55
    15.4: 5, 7, 9, 11, 15, 17, 19, 21, 25, 29, 40
    15.5: 3, 7, 11, 13

NOTICE:  I completely forgot to assign recommended HW problems for sections 15.1 and 15.2.  So, 15.1 and 15.2 will not appear on exam 3.  Don't worry though, you will see plenty of double integrals on exam 4.

6/8 — Exam 3 Formulae and Enthusiastically Recommended Problems

6/7 — Constrained Optimization and Double Integrals

6/6 — Directional Derivatives, Optimization, and Constrained Optimization
  • New notes (for sections 15.1 through 15.3).  We will probably not get to these until Thursday.

    14.5: 5, 9, 11, 13, 17, 19, 23, 39, 45, 53, 55
    14.6: 7, 9, 11, 13, 15

NOTICE: I made a mistake in writing out the section numbers for the Enthusiastically Recommended Problems.  It is too late to add new problems to the list, so there will be NO enthusiastically recommended problems.  Exam 2 will look like the regular recommended HW problems.

Adding Vectors (GeoGebra Applet - needs Java)
Scalar Multiplication (Java)

Dot Products and Projections (Java - This one is a little overwhelming, as it shows just about everything at once.  Use the hide buttons.  It does present an interesting geometric interpretation of the dot product we did not cover in class.)
