GST Antibody
Background:
The immunogen glutathione S-transferase (GST) protein is encoded by the
parasitic Schistosoma japonicum GST gene. Many recombinant proteins are
expressed as GST-fusion proteins to facilitate purification or analysis of
protein interaction. The parasite GST protein shows ~60% homogy with class Mu
isozymes of mammalian GST (EC 2.5.1.18)
2
. GST catalyzes the conjugation of reduced glutathione to electrophiles
on many substrates, thus detoxifying endogenous compounds such as lipid
peroxides.
Antibody Description: Polyclonal
antibodies were produced by immunizing rabbits with bacterially expressed
full-length GST (26 kDa). The product is for research use only.
