NBA All-Star Weekend Recap

By: Brett Rickles

Every year basketball fans around the world tune in to NBA All-Star Weekend. The display of skill, athleticism and fun are what wows people every year. Whether it was 19 year old Zach LaVine in the dunk contest, Stephen Curry's lights out performance in the 3 point contest, or Russel Westbrooks dominance in All-Star game.

Russel Westbrook won All-Star game MVP honors after leading the West to a 163-158 win over the East. Westbrook scored a game high 41 points which was one point shy of the All-Star game record in the highest scoring All-Star game in history. Behind Westbrook was former team-mate James Harden who had 29 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists. Together the two helped increase the lead late in the fourth quarter with a barrage of threes.

On the other side for the East All-Stars Cleveland Cavalier LeBron James led the team with 30 points. LeBron got support from Atlanta Hawk Kyle Korver and Washington Wizard John Wall who scored 21 and 19 respectively. However the team still fell short after a late run by the West.
