Planning & Public Policy

 

John Bis has been involved in planning and public policy issues for many years. In the early 1970's he was selected to serve on the Village of Oakland Mills Architectural Review Committee, Columbia, Maryland. Later he was elected to that new town's Board of Directors and he also was appointed to the Howard County, Maryland Public Works Board.

He has served as Chair or the City of Buffalo Preservation Board and currently is Chair of the Development Coordination Board, Erie County, New York. Having stepped down after 29 years from full-time teaching and administrative work at the School of Architecture and Planning he is now an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Urban and Regional Planning, University at Buffalo. He continues to teach one or two courses a year.
