Stereotyping

Because the media subconsciously alters our perception of beauty, we are not only more critical of ourselves, but of other people. We look at the appearances and style of one another and assume they have a certain personality type or a weird thing about them that we should stay away from. One might look odd and not to society's standards on the outside, but have a friendly personality, interesting talent, or an idea that can contribute greatly to the world. We categorize people into groups and identify with our own groups, which prevents us from expanding our world. We limit ourselves when we limit others.
